Today I was teaching one of my younger classes how to say “Yes, I like…” and “No, I don’t like…” using various food vocabulary. Having had very little English before, they made some mistakes before they really got it.

I held up a picture of a banana and asked one student, “Do you like bananas?” She paused, furrowed her brow and responded with great effort, “Yes…life…is…bananas.”
